2026 Summer Learning

Camp Description:
This class is a hands-on, exploratory course where students get to try a wide range of materials and art styles while building real skills and creative confidence. We start with drawing, focusing on optical illusions, tessellations, and bold Pop Art imagery inspired by artists like M. C. Escher and Andy Warhol, learning how line, pattern, and color can trick the eye and make strong visual statements. From there, students move into mixed media, combining traditional art-making with paper circuits and simple weaving to explore texture, layering, and how art can interact with light, inspired by the work of Jie Qi. The class then shifts into sculpture, where students build and shape three-dimensional forms using clay, foil, and cardboard, experimenting with structure, balance, and design. We wrap up with paper crafts, making paper flowers and learning origami, focusing on patience, precision, and transforming simple materials into detailed, thoughtful artworks. Throughout the month, the emphasis is on experimentation, problem-solving, and having fun while making meaningful art.

Camp Description: 
Students will focus on the use of geometry to study different industrial designs. We will explore it using paper and Lego bricks to create airplanes, buildings and sculptures.

Camp Description:
Students will use strategy and problem solving to play games! A variety of games will be taught, from board/strategy games, to the all-popular dice and card games as well as games that focus on words and numbers.

Camp Description:
Physical Education games and activities to work on social emotional skills of making friends, cooperation, teamwork, communication, and perseverance. Math will be incorporated in different ways like keeping score, monitoring heart rate, fact fluency in warm up games and other ways across the different activity themes.

Camp Description:
Students will explore different genres each week through read alouds, games, crafts, breakout boxes, and STEM activities, both teacher-directed and self-guided. They will also use their cooperative skills for team challenges and their imagination for free build creations!

Camp Description:  
Students will get opportunities to learn and play different instruments using a variety of music from different cultures and time periods. Social studies will be touched upon with music from different countries. Basic music literacy concepts will also be learned and practiced while playing the instruments.
