Dr. Cory Gibson

Dr. Gibson joined the Valley Center administrative team in July of 2012.  He has worked in a wide variety of positions within schools since 1992. Experiences include that of a custodian, paraeducator, substitute teacher, teacher, counselor, principal, assistant superintendent, and superintendent.  Prior to joining the Valley Center School District, he served as the superintendent of the Halstead-Bentley School District.

Gibson’s two children, Ashtyn and Jayton, both attend Valley Center schools. His wife, Jennifer, is the registrar at Valley Center High School.

His education includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, a Master’s Degree in Building Level Leadership, and an Educational Specialist Degree in District Level Leadership from Pittsburg State University.  He completed his doctoral studies at the University of Arkansas December 2016.

Mike Bonner

Assistant Superintendent

Mr. Bonner joined the Valley Center administrative team in July 2012, and has a total of 32 years in education. Prior to Coming to Valley Center, Bonner was the principal at Maize High School. His experience also includes being the principal at Mulvane Middle School; Assistant Principal/Athletic Director at Rose Hill Middle School; and 13 years of teaching and coaching in three districts.

Primarily responsible for human resources and federal and state programs, Bonner also oversees the maintenance and grounds, transportation, food service, and custodial departments, as well as many operational aspects of the district.
Bonner earned his Bachelor’s Degree from St. Mary of the Plains College, and his Master’s Degree and district-level license from Wichita State University. He is currently working on his doctoral degree through Wichita State as well. His family includes Kelly, his wife of 30 years; Drew, his 24 year old son who is in his third year at the KU School of Medicine; and their five small dogs. He enjoys being active and hiking in Colorado every chance he gets.

Director of Student Learning,
Principal of The Learning Center

Mrs. Khosravipour joined  the Valley Center School District in 2000 when she was hired to be a fourth grade teacher.  During her tenure here, she has served as an MTSS interventionist, K-12 Instructional Coach, and an Assistant Principal.  Currently, she serves as the Director of Student Learning for the school district and as Principal of the The Learning Center.  In her role as Director of Student Learning, her main focus is to work collaboratively with teachers and administrators to improve student learning by ensuring that district curriculum, instruction, and assessment are aligned to the district’s strategic plan and the Kansas College and Career Ready Standards.  In addition, she also oversees the district’s new teacher induction program, and collaboratively facilitates the Professional Development Council, District Leadership Team, and the District MTSS Team. As Principal of the Learning Center, she is passionate about providing options for students as they pursue their High School Diploma.  Prior to coming to Valley Center, Mrs. Khosravipour was an elementary teacher for the Piper School District in the Kansas City area.
Mrs. Khosravipour is a graduate of Emporia State University where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education.  Her Master’s Degree in School Leadership was earned from Baker University.  Currently, she is attending Wichita State University in pursuit of her district level licensure.  Her family includes her husband, Bobby, to whom she has been married for 27 years; three children; Kevin, Kristin, and Ariel; daughter-in-law, Katie, and two grandchildren of which she is very proud!  Mrs. Khosravipour loves to spend time with family and friends, as well as travel during her leisure time.

Susan Harris
Director of Finance

Susan is the Director of  Finance and started working for the district in 2001. Before joining the district she spent 20 years in banking where she was the VP & Trust Operations Officer. At Valley Center, she is responsible for overseeing all the aspects of the Business Department including accounts payable, payroll and the budget. She also serves as the District's Insurance/Benefits Coordinator.  Susan has a Bachelor's Degree in Finance from Fort Hays State University.

Molly Rainey
Director of Food Service/Wellness
Molly is the Director of Food Service and started working for the district in 2011. Molly's duties include overseeing the operation of National School meal programs-breakfast, lunch and Summer Food Service Program. Prior to joining Valley Center, she served as a Food Service Director in the private school sector.  Molly has a Bachelor's Degree in Business from Wichita State University.

Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent/BOE Clerk

Sara is the administrative assistant for the superintendent, board clerk, answers phone calls/questions, handles workman’s comp issues, and school lunch program applications. She’s been with the district since 2008.

HR Administrative Assistant 

Serving as the assistant superintendent’s administrative assistant, Carla handles the human resource responsibilities including processing applications and new hires, teacher licensure, substitute teachers, FMLA and unemployment.  She also keeps the webpage and calendars up-to-date. Carla has been with the district since 2007.

The district office communications administrative assistant's primary responsibility is to assist the Director of Student Learning and the Director of Special Education Cooperative.  She assists with visitors and callers.

Payroll Clerk 

Having been with the district since 2001, Debbie has worked at both the building and district office level. She is currently the payroll clerk and responsible for tracking pay, hours, and leave for all district employees.

Accounts Receivable/Payable Clerk

As the accounts payable clerk, Shelly makes sure the invoices are received and the bills get paid. Shelly has been with the district since 2006.
