              Attention Varsity AthletesAny student who has participated in a Men’s           Varsity Sport can participate in Varsity Club. The first meeting is next           Wednesday, the 21st during Advisory in B-15 in Coach Edwards room. We           will discuss ideas for end of the school year as well as summer projects.           Please bring $2.00 as your membership fee. If you are attending the           football meeting with Coach L’Ecuyer, catch up with Coach Edwards           sometime during the day to get more information.

              There will be a meeting Wednesday, April 21st during Advisory for anyone      interested in playing football next fall. The meeting will take place in the          weight room. Contact Coach L’Ecuyer if you are interested in playing       football but cannot attend the meeting.

 

              Spring/Summer Job: A valley center resident is looking for a responsible           and detail oriented      individual to mow her lawn this spring and           summer.  If interested, see Mrs. McDonald in the counseling department           for information.  

 

                  High School Color Guard Clinics and Auditions:

                   Do you like dancing, being active, competing, and                                                          performing? Or do you just want to try something new? If so, then try color                         guard! A parent/student information meeting will take place on April 19th                           at 7pm in the band room. Clinics and auditions are April 26th, 27th, 29th, &                    30th from 6:30 - 8:30 pm. Be sure to wear comfortable clothes and shoes!

                   Any questions, please talk to Mr. Verboom or Miss Whitaker in the Band                              Room.

             

               Spring Off Season Strength & Conditioning - Tuesday, Wednesday, &           Thursday     after school from 3:10 pm - 4 pm. All athletes who are not           participating in a spring sport are highly encouraged to attend.           Students can and are encouraged to attend on scheduled remote           days in the hybrid-learning format. For more information, please contact           Coach Schwartz.

 

Counselor’s Corner:

 

            The application period for the 2021 Virtual Teen Aviation Camp is now           open! The camp will be conducted June 14-25, 2021 in partnership with           Air Force Aero Clubs and offers an introduction to the field of aviation and   opportunities for careers and leadership roles within the Air Force.          For additional details on eligibility and application process, see         

              Mrs. McDonald in the guidance office.   Completed applications must be     submitted by a military parent or guardian no later than April 14, 2021.

 

        Are YOU interested in a career in COSMETOLOGY or ESTHETICS? If YES, see    Ms. Seacat at lunch or email her for an upcoming learning opportunity (in      May). Spaces are limited.

              Boys State and Girls State have given tens of thousands of young Kansans      a powerful introduction to civic responsibility. It strengthens confidence,        inspires leadership, builds bonds of friendship and erases prejudice – all in a safe, open and welcoming environment. These leadership academies          are open to all juniors and require an application and $325 fee. However,     this fee is usually covered by the local American legion for qualified

              candidates. Make lifelong friends, test the waters of college life, and learn leadership skills at Boys or Girls State this summer! See Mrs. McDonald for           an application and additional information.

 

              Interested in becoming a YMCA lifeguard this summer?  Here is everything you need to know about lifeguards at the YMCA.  Including a recruiting    video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tTgsQGF_sDw  The YMCA         will reimburse 100% of the cost to get certified after 350 hours of working      for the Y and there is an opportunity for students to qualify for a           scholarship waiving the $175 certification fee.  If interested, see Mrs.           McDonald or Mrs. Lehr.

              Located in the library MONDAY - THURSDAY from 3:00-4:30 PM.

              Stop in to get 1:1 support in the      areas of math, science, ELA, and social          studies. You can also come in for a quiet place to work or to use the    computers.  Don't miss out!
