Special Education Position Information

The Sedgwick County Special Education Cooperative (Coop) hires and places Certified Teachers and Para Educators in the Valley Center Schools. The following opportunities currently exist: 

Adaptive Special Education Teacher (Instructional Support – High Incidence)


Location:
Valley Center Wheatland Elementary (.5) and Valley Center Intermediate (.5) 

 Description: Provide support to the instructional process by serving as a special education teacher with specific responsibility for facilitating student success in general education academic areas; supervising special education students within the classroom and other assigned areas; developing lesson plans and delivering group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines; collaborating with other teachers, other professional staff, and administrators in addressing instructional and classroom issues; and responding to a wide range of inquiries from parents or guardians regarding instructional program and student progress.

Must have one of the following Qualifications:
-Current KSDE licensure in Adaptive/High Incidence and Elementary Education

-Current KSDE licensure in Elementary Education and interested in becoming certified/licensed to teach special education students on a waiver (tuition assistance provided).

Description: Provide support to the instructional process by serving as a special education teacher with specific responsibility for facilitating student success in general education academic areas; supervising special education students within the classroom and other assigned areas; developing lesson plans and delivering group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines; collaborating with other teachers, other professional staff, and administrators in addressing instructional and classroom issues; and responding to a wide range of inquiries from parents or guardians regarding instructional program and student progress.

Must have one of the following Qualifications:
-Current KSDE licensure in Adaptive/High Incidence and Secondary Education

-Current KSDE licensure in Secondary Education and interested in becoming certified/licensed to teach special education students on a waiver (tuition assistance provided).

GIFTED FACILITATOR

Location:
Valley Center School District

Description: Provides support to the instructional process with specific responsibility for facilitating instruction of gifted students; supervising gifted students within the classroom and other assigned areas; coordinating enrichment activities; developing lesson plans and delivering group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines; collaborating with other teachers, professional staff, and administrators in addressing instructional and classroom issues; and responding to a wide range of inquiries from students' parents or guardians regarding instructional program and student progress.


Qualifications – must have one of the following:
-Current KSDE licensure in Gifted and Elementary/Secondary Education

-Current KSDE licensure in Elementary/Secondary Education and interested in becoming licensed to teach special education students on a waiver (tuition assistance provided).
