Important Budget News for 2013-2014

IMPORTANT!  Due to inadequate funding by the State, we are facing a reduction in budget compounded by increased costs for things we cannot control (fuel, food, supplies, etc.), the district will need to make over $1.3 million dollars (7% of total operational funds) in budget adjustments for next fiscal year (starting July 1, 2013).  The link below is the same presentation shared with staff and the Board of Education.  The adjustments will be voted in over the next three Board meetings.  None of these adjustments are easy.  The proposal has been written after over four months of study.  If you have questions, please contact me at cory.gibson@usd262.net or 316.755.7000.

2013-2014 Start/End Times for USD 262 Schools

A task force comprised of representatives from across the district have spent the last two months studying traffic patterns, bus routes, and school schedules in preparation for the 2013-2014 school year.  The priority of the task force was to establish a schedule that was both safe and efficient.

The 2013-2014 school calendar has less school days than previous calendars, and as a result adds ten minutes to each day to maintain contact with our students. Please
click here to see the recommendations of the task force comprised of building administrators, the director of operations and the director of transportation.

Online Bulletin Board

The Valley Center School District has introduced an Online Bulletin Board.  Information related to student activities/events will be eligible to be posted on the bulletin board.  The Online Bulletin Board will replace all paper flyer distribution.

Postings must be approved by the Superintendent.  Postings will be allowed for school sponsored or student curricular groups, events linked to individual schools or activities sponsored by groups partnering with the Valley Center Schools (i.e., PTO, Booster Club. Valley Center Recreation Commission).  Please see additional information about posting on the Online Bulletin Board and signing up to receive alerts when a new event is posted by clicking on the link at the top left hand side of this page.
